A process for producing red paint, containing colouring pigment, flour, wetting agent and water, as well as normally also green vitriol and linseed oil. A part-batch, containing the constituents of the paint, with the exception of the swelling agent, and containing a part of the water which is included in the paint, is first of all prepared, which part-batch is treated at high shearing rates and for a time which is sufficient to break down any particle agglomerates which may be present into primary particles, after which a thick mixture, containing the swelling agent and another part of the water, is prepared, in addition to which a mixture of the part-batch and the remaining part of the water in the paint is heated to approx. 70 degree C at a low shearing rate, and the said thick mixture is added to this mixture at a low flow rate and over a period of at least approx. 10 min. The resulting paint batch is then heated to approx. 95 degree C and finally left to cool. |
