A screw cap for containers, in particular for bottles, having an external thread in their mouth region, is proposed, which screw cap has a plastic tamper-proof ring which is provided with at least one barb extending from its inside and is connected to the cap via an intended tearing line which is bridged by tear-off webs and can be torn open, at least in some regions, during initial opening of the cap.
