The button feed mechanism, for a button sewing machine, has facing guide surfaces for the outer edge of the button in the feed groove and a push advance to give a fraction rotation to the button. The push advance unit is radially directly against the button, in the movement direction, and is part of the push feed system. Over at least part of the path of push movement, the guide groove is narrower than the button outer dia. One guide surface has a pliable friction component which applies greater friction forces on the button than the sum of the friction forces between the button and the other guide surface and the push feed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is for the feed of buttons to the sewing machine, to be clamped in place with the holes in the button correctly aligned for the needle to pass through. The assembly can handle buttons of different shapes and sizes, and uses fewer components to reduce equipment costs.
