PURPOSE:To attain the high speed counting of coins without missing the passage and detection thereof, by a method wherein a mechanical sensor consisting of a microswitch, etc., and an optical sensor are provided inside a coin-paying pathway, the passage of the coins is determined by processing the outputs from these sensors and the number of the coins are counted. CONSTITUTION:When coins (c) are charged into a coin-charging part and a rotary disk 7 in a paying mechanism 1 is turned, the coins (c) put into coin- holding pockets 8 on the rotary disk 7 are progressively pushed out into a paying pathway 3, and the first of the coins (c) is brought into contact with a control lever 4 and is held in the state of primary putting-off. After that, when the next is pushed out, the first thereof pushes-up the control lever 4 and is sprung out by the return action of the control lever 4. A microswitch 14 is turned on when a lever 15 for a mechanical sensor 5 is pushed-up by the first thereof, following which an optical sensor 6 generates a signal when light by the optical sensor 6 is momentarily interrupted. After that, the outputs from these sensors 5, 6 are processed, and the passage of the coins is determined by a determining device 22 and is counted by a counter 23. |
