PURPOSE:To obtain a zirconia electrolyte having a high electric conductivity even at a low temperature and reduced in the change in the electric conductivity with the elapse of time. CONSTITUTION:A zirconia electrolyte stabilized in zirconia with ytterbia (Yb2O3) as a stabilizer, by controlling the molar ratio of ytterbia/zirconia to 7/93 to 10/90 in the zirconia electrolyte, and controlling the purity of the Ytterbia to >=90%. Thereby, there is obtained the zirconia electrolyte having a high electric conductivity even at <=1000 deg.C and minimized in the change in electric conductivity as well as strength after being allowed to stand in the air at 800 deg.C or in hot water. |
