PURPOSE:To provide a method for stably and efficiently producing an isotropic high density graphite material having an excellent material strength and a normal material tissue. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. of a coke aggregate having the maximum particle diameter of <=10mum and 70-110 pts.wt. of a pitch binder are mixed with each other, kneaded and subsequently roughly ground. The product is thermally treated at a temperature of 250-450 deg.C to control volatile components so as to give toluene-soluble contents and beta-resin contents of 5-15wt.% and 5-15wt.%, respectively. The treated product is again ground, molded into a prescribed shape by a rubber press method, and further subjected to a calcining carbonation treatment and to a graphitation treatment. |
