Electric generators (5) mounted on boards (1) along the edges and central reservations of motorways and dual carriageways are driven by wind turbines (2) each comprising three vanes (3) set at 120 deg. to one another on a vertical shaft (4). The tips of the vanes are bent through 60 deg. throughout the height of each vane and over a length equal to one-sixth of the distance from the tip to the axis of rotation. Alternative embodiments have four vanes set at 90 deg., or three at 60 deg. with tips bent back at angles of 50 and 40 deg. over different lengths. ADVANTAGE - Is easily installed at low cost and operates economically without dependence on natural circulation of air.
