<p>Hydrothermal polymers, esp. sulphur crosslinked elastomers such as scrap for recycling, is carried out by treatment at 150-350 deg. C and 5-160 bars with water which may contain degradation promoters, pref. Cu or Fe salts. USE/AVANTAGE - The process may be used to treat any organic polymers contg. polar functional gps. in their molecular structures, but is esp. applicable to rubber materials. It allows recovery of the material components for reuse.</p>
