PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly and reliably detect human cytomegalovirus by treating a DNA primer pair containing a specific base sequence of oligonucleotide part, a DNA polymerase and an aqueous liquid test sample by DNA amplification followed by examination. SOLUTION: Human cytomegalovirus is rapidly, reliably and specifically detected by treating a mixture which includes the combination of the first DNA primer containing at least 15 bases of oligonucleotide part of the base sequence represented by formula I and the second DNA primer containing at least 15 bases of oligonucleotide of the base sequence represented by formula II, a DNA polymerase and an aqueous liquid test sample by DNA amplification process and then treating a reaction solution containing the resultant amplified DNA by DNA examination process. Further, this method is useful in the diagnosis or the like of cytomegalovirus infectious disease which shows various inapparent infections, causes a reactivation to malignant tumor, AIDS patients, organ transplantation patients, massive blood transfusion patients or pregnant women and is fatal as the case may be. |
