The friction material, obtained by sintering, for friction surfaces of clutches and brakes, which contains pulverulent and/or granular, metallic and non-metallic constituents and at least one non-ferrous copper-based metal, is adversely affected and decomposed by highly alloyed oils and their chemical additives. In order to improve the resistance of the friction material to these adverse influences, it is provided according to the invention that the hitherto conventional free copper powder is replaced predominantly or exclusively by brass powder and pure copper powder is no longer used. |
