Dental syringe covers (24) are described in several different forms. In all embodiments the syringe cover (24), tapered in shape, fits tightly over the metal dental syringe (16) so that no liquid from the syringe can flow backward over the surface of the syringe (38). Another feature is a longitudinal gap between the syringe tip (20) and the tip of the syringe cover (30). The gap functions to isolate the syringe tip (25) from the exterior environment as well as to improve the stream of air, water or air/water mix delivered from the syringe. Preferably the syringe covers (25) include an enlarged generally bell-shaped feature (32) at the end opposite the tip, providing a surrounding cover or sheath for a nut (18) or other fastener typically present at the base end of the metal syringe. In one form the syringe cover (24) has a tip formed with a one-way valve (42). |
