To apply a liq. release and lubricating agent to the moulding plates, of a boxless moulding assembly, a mist of release agent and lubricant is delivered by compressed air into the interior of the moulding machine before the moulding sand is shot in. The mist is deposited in a fine distribution over the moulding plates. Before the mist is delivered into the machine, the jets are pref. cleared by a burst of compressed air. ADVANTAGE - The release agent and lubricant is deposited evenly over the moulding plates, without escape into the environment which could affect the operatives' health or increase the risk of explosion or fire.
