PURPOSE:To accurately and easily extract a seal carved part in the cut surface of a steel material which rotates in a peripheral direction where a linear rugged flaw due to saw cutting is present. CONSTITUTION:An image processor extracts the seal carved part 2 which is carved deeper than the saw tooth flaw 3 due to the saw cutting from the cut surface of the steel material 1 where the saw tooth flaw 3 is present substantially linearly and in parallel and is provided with plural stroboscopic light sources 7, and those stroboscopic light sources 7 emit light at different light emission timing and an image of the steel material cut surface is picked up by an image pickup means 8. Respective images from the image pickup means 8 are fetched at respective light emission timing of the stroboscopic light sources 7, and the optimum image for deciding the carved part 2 is selected among the respective images. |
