PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new compound useful as pharmaceuticals active to induce the production of a hematopoietic colony stimulating factor and having antimycotic action, carcinostatic action, etc., by culturing a microbial strain belonging to genus Streptomyces and capable of producing the subject compound and collecting the product from the cultured material. CONSTITUTION:A leustroducsin-producing microbial strain belonging to genus Streptomyces [e.g. Streptomyces platensis SANK 60191 (FERM BP-3288)] is inoculated in a medium and cultured for 3 days by a rotary shaking incubator at 28 deg.C and 200rpm to obtain a seed culture liquid. The liquid is added to a medium in a jar fermenter and cultured at 28 deg.C for 3 days under stirring. The cultured cells are collected and extracted with acetone, the extraction liquid is extracted with ethyl acetate after removing the solvent and the extracted fraction is purified by high-performance liquid chromatography to obtain the new compound leustroducsin (salt) expressed by formula (R is 5- methylhexanoyloxy, 6-methyloctanoyloxy or 7-methyloctanoyloxy). |
