PURPOSE:To improve take-off property at releasing of brake action by a Hill holder mechanism, in a stop brake device provided with the Hill holder mecha nism with which a brake is operated at stopping a vehicle and the brake action is released at stepping in an accelerator pedal after the brake action. CONSTITUTION:Paying attention that generally estimation process of friction coefficient of a road surface for running a vehicle is performed for slip control in a vehicle provided with a slip control device such as ABS or TRC, the releasing speed of brake action is controlled according to the estimated values muA, muT of friction coefficient of a road surface Namely, a Hill holder mechantsm is controlled so as to be the smaller the estimated values of road surface friction coefficient muA, muT the lower the releasing speed of brake action (S7, S12). Hereby, drive wheel slip generated at releasing brake action can be restrained to the minimum.
