<p>A mounting section which enables relatively simple and effective mounting of a panel edge to an adjacent member within a structure or construction is disclosed. The mounting section is particularly suitable for mounting of a soffit beneath the eaves of a building. The mounting section is securable to a structure. The mounting section accepts and holds the panel edge so that the panel edge is mounted to the structure. The mounting section has a mouth for receiving the panel and is constructed of opposing walls at least one being movable to allow the panel to pass freely into the mouth. The walls are resiliently hinged so as to be collapsible during mounting and to support the panel edge after mounting. The movable walls oppose each other so as to provide a clamping effect on the panel edge after it locates within the mouth. In general use the opposite end of the panel is mounted within a structure such as a fascia groove. The other end of the panel is then rotated past a movable wall which is collapsible to accept the panel edge into the mouth. Once the panel edge is located in the mouth, the movable walls clamp and support the panel edge. At least one of the movable walls may be visible after the panel edge is located. This visible wall may be proportioned so as to provide an aesthetically pleasing finish such as to resemble beading. In an alternative arrangement at least one of the opposing walls may be completely detachable or partially detachable from the main body of the mounting section so as to allow the panel edge to move freely into the mouth. A biasing web may exist in the mouth so as to force the panel into the fascia locating groove.</p> |
