<p>The invention deals with the problems of environmentally sound disposal of the organic and non-metallic inorganic contaminants of old vehicles or other mass-produced articles such as washing machines or refrigerators. According to the invention, a novel approach, which is more compatible with and beneficial to the environment and is also acceptable, for disposing of these waste materials is proposed, by using these as chemically reducing and slag-forming additives in the smelting of iron ore in a blast furnace installation or for producing steel or cast iron in a cupola furnace installation, the materials normally used as additives being at least partially replaced.</p> |
