PURPOSE:To provide a modulator which can be conveniently transformed into a general-purpose integrated circuit and also can perform the angle modulation and the orthogonal modulation. CONSTITUTION:The amplitudes of the forward and at reverse phase carrier waves obtained by transforming the input carrier waves through a differential transformer circuit 21 are controlled by the amplitude control circuits 32 and 33 cascaded to each other based on the control signal. These controlled carrier waves undergo the phase shift through a phase shift circuit 24, and a phase difference detector circuit 31 detects the deviation between the phase difference between two carrier waves undergone the phase shift and 90 deg.. This deviation serves as a control signal for the orthogonal modulation and the angle modulation signal serves as a control signal for the angle modulation respectively. These control signals are supplied to an amplitude control circuit 33. Then two carrier wave outputs undergone the phase shift and the sine and cosine components of a base band signal are mixed by the mixer circuits 4 and 5 independently of each other. Then the difference signal is fed back to the circuit 32 as a control signal, and the mixture outputs are added together for acquisition of the modulated output. |
