PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound useful as an intermediate of the raw material of polyester polyol and polyurethane, rapidly in high selectivity, by reacting 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a rhodium compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be produced by the hydroformylation reaction of 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol at 60-150 deg.C and 80-300atm, using a catalyst consisting of a rhodium compound unmodified with a ligand containing a group-V element, in the presence of a specific organic compound. The organic compound is at least one kind of 3-18C organic compound selected from saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons, saturated alicyclic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, ethers and esters, and its amount in the reaction mixture is 10-80wt%, preferably 15-50wt%. |
