PURPOSE:To provide a radio modem which can keep the excellent data compressing efficiency and also can effectively use a memory. CONSTITUTION:A 1st compressing part 20 can compress the 2-byte data showing a symbol in plural compression modes in a HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) or KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) compression mode. A 2nd compressing part 32 retrieves continuously a data compressing table 22 for each character or each bit until the input data is matched with the retrieving data in the maximum length. Then the retrieving data on the contents of the unmatched input data length and its corresponding compressed code word are generated on the table 22. Thus the compressing efficiency is kept even with various text data, and three different ways of compression are available with various character data. Therefore the compressing efficiency is kept regardless of the type of text data. Thus it is possible to obtain a radio modem that can keep the excellent transmission efficiency. |
