A warp knitting machine utilises crochet needles in a needlebar working with at least one thread guide bar. The needle bar has a reciprocal motion, while the guide bar has a shogging motion to lap the needles. Additionally, there is a reciprocal motion of the guide bar in the same direction as the needle bar. Pref. mainshaft drives the eccentrics attached to connecting rods. The arm swivels on a centre to provide reciprocation of the hooked needles set in a bar. As this rises and falls, so does the thread guide bar with the guides, meeting the hook needles along part of the trajectory, and accompanying the working part as it rises and falls, and at the same time overlapping and underlapping, to form the loops of the knit. This movement is provided by the connecting rod giving a rise and fall movement at the appropriate time, and partly by connecting rod, which moves the guide bar back and forward by the mechanism, through the needles when the guide bar has been shogged sideways. The lateral movement is given along rods by an end reciprocation, so that the guides can give a sideways motion to avoid clashing with the needles as the thread is wrapped around the hook needle. ADVANTAGE - Acceleration, or periodical slowing down of the thread guide bar is not required, and this avoids clash of parts. The machine can attain higher speed
