PURPOSE:To extend the effective width of a track and to improve the reliability of recording and reproducing by ignoring a terminal marker practically to provide the track across the terminal marker or adjacently to the terminal marker. CONSTITUTION:When data blocks are recorded and reproduced in serial, a track T1 is selected by track switching circuits 13 and 14, and a recording head H1 and a reproducing head P1 are connected to a recording circuit 16 and a reproducing circuit 17 respectively, and data blocks are supplied from a computer 19 through a memory 19. If a marker detector 7 detects a terminal marker 6, a control circuit 15 controls a memory 18 so that a current recording data block (n) and a next data block n+1 are recorded twice, and the same blocks are recorded twice. In case of reproduction, blocks of the second recording are used if errors are detected in blocks of the first recording. |
