<p>Antigen-specific or superantigen-induced activation of T- or B-cells is inhibited by 3-alkylxanthines having formula (I) wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, (a) and (b); R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, (a) and (b); R2 is selected from the group consisting of C1-C4 straight or branched chain alkylene, preferably methyl; R3 is selected from the group consisting of C2-C6, preferably C2-C4, straight- or branched-chain alkylene; R4 is selected from the group consisting of C2-C6, preferably C2-C4, straight- or branched-chain alkylene; R5 is selected from the group consisting of C1-C3 alkyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.</p> |
