A method for production of polyester macro monomers through polymerisation or copolymerisation of β-lactone monomers, characterised in that the polymerisation or copolymerisation of β-lactone monomers with the general formula shown on the figure, wherein R1, R2, R3 denote independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of formula CnH2n+1, where n denotes an integer from 1 to 7, is applied to alkaline metals, their alloys or their compounds with aromatic carbohydrates, preferably in the presence of compounds coordinating the metal cations.<IMAGE>
