The subject of the invention is a dielectric article made of tempered glass, which is a body of revolution about an axis. The article comprises a ribbed skirt surmounted by a head which may equip an electrical insulator intended for electric-power transmission lines and which meets the requirements required for high-voltage lines operating up to 90 kV or more and for ambient pollution which may reach the 3 or 4 standard level. The profile of the said dielectric article provides a creepage distance of at least 550 mm for a skirt diameter of at most 350 mm. <IMAGE>
