The invention relates to a process for placing at least one wire, a band or some like element 8 in a predefined pattern across a conveyor belt 1 with the aid of a wire feed-out device 3 having at least one wire outlet device 5. According to the invention, the wire outlet, or each wire outlet, is moved in a single or combined rotational path in a plane parallel with the conveyor belt and the belt is moved linearly relative to the rotational axis of the wire outlet. The effect of this is that the wire outlet will move in a spiral-like motional path relative to the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt has mounted claw elements 2, which lie within the spiral-like motional path of the wire outlet such that the wire can be laid out in a pattern determined by the claw elements. The invention also relates to an apparatus for application of the process. <IMAGE>
