PURPOSE:To obtain an antiphlogistic agent and cosmetic containing bacterial cells or the cell wall components of the genus Lactobacillus or the genus Bifidobacterium as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:The objective antiphlogistic agent contains a lactic acid bacterium (e.g. Lactobacillus kasei) of the genus Lactobacillus or a bacterium (Bifidobacterium breve) of the genus Bifidobacterium as an active ingredient at an amount of 0.01-10wt.%. The antiphlogistic agent can be prepared in the form of ointment, plaster, liniment, cataplasm, emulsion, etc., according to ordinary method. Similarly, a cosmetic can be prepared from the antiphlogistic agent in a form of cream or lotion. The antiphlogistic agent has excellent preventing and treating effects on skin inblamination and especially has preventing and treating effects on skin erythema caused by irradiation with ultraviolet rays. The above-mentioned bacterial cells are obtained e.g. by culturing, collecting and washing of lactic acid bacterial cells according to ordinary method and the cell wall components can be obtained by disrupting the bacterial cells with a cell disruptor according to ordinary method. |
