The invention relates to the field of formulation pharmaceutics. It relates to novel pharmaceutical compositions intended for ocular application, which contain as active principle at least one androstene derivative of general formula I <IMAGE> in which R1 represents hydrogen, a lower alkyl radical, a methoxyalkyl or an acyl derived from an organic carboxylic or carbonic acid and R and R2 are defined as in the description in combination or mixed with a pharmaceutical, non-toxic, inert vehicle or excipient. The compositions according to the invention are a medicament for the treatment of intraocular hypertension and glaucoma.
