PURPOSE:To realize oscillation free from a loss of amplitude without adjustments by a simple circuit, by applying varactor diode with a low-frequency oscillation signal superposed upon a frequency control DC signal. CONSTITUTION:When the frequency of an electromagnetic wave arriving from antenna 6 agrees accurately with the trnasition level interval of Rb atoms in cavity 5, atoms cause induced radiation and atoms of the normal level increases in number, so that the quantity of absorbed pumping light will increase. To detect the maximum point of the absorption quantity with good sensitivity, a microwave is slightly modulated at a low frequency and a sign error signal that corresponds to a frequency shift from the center of resonance is obtained. In this case, varactor diode 46 of quartz oscillator 16 is applied with the low-frequency oscillation signal of low- frequency oscillator 10, superposed upon a frequency control DC signal, from terminal 48. Consequently, the simple circuit provides oscillation free from a loss of amplitude without adjustments. |
