The present invention relates to a container having a refrigeration unit and a controlled-atmosphere apparatus (19-24) for feeding into the container a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen in percentages which vary depending on the product being transported. The container comprises a removable sheet (25) which is substantially impermeable to gases and is arranged inside the container so as to seal the loading and unloading aperture.
