PURPOSE:To prevent the chipping and cracking of honeycomb ceramics used as a catalyst carrier and various filters when the periphery receives external force and to improve the handleability and durability of the ceramics. CONSTITUTION:The periphery of a honeycomb sintered body 3 formed by molding and firing a ceramic sheet based on heat resistant inorg. fibers and ceramic powder for joining the fibers is coated with a thermally sprayed ceramic layer 4 of partially stabilized zirconia, a magnetic or dielectric material to obtain honeycomb ceramics having high mechanical strength, excellent handleability, durability and effective functions. |
