An electronic circuit board (11) with surface mounted components (12) is supported on pillars within a hermetically sealed housing (10). The circuit can be an ignition timing controller for a motor vehicle engine. The cup shaped base unit has a formed top lip that receives the formed edge (18) of a cover plate (17). The base unit has a raised section (21) providing a mounting for a flexible diaphragm (23). The underside of the diaphragm connects to the atmos. through a small hole (20) and allows variations in pressure to be accommodated. ADVANTAGE - Prevents internal pressure changing with temp. of ambient atmos. which can lead to deformation causing gaps, damage or even breaking upon repetition.
