摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To attain high speed processing and to set a data quantity of each pattern to processing data quantity when a conversion data obtained from converting picture information into a frequency area is quantized and the quantized conversion data is subject to variable length coding. CONSTITUTION:A conversion data resulting from converting picture information into a frequency area at a DCT transformation circuit 28 is outputted in parallel by several frames by using 1-frame period delay circuits 34a-34d. The parallel output conversion data is quantized by quantization circuits 32a-32e, The data quantity when the quantized data is coded is obtained by variable length coding circuits 40a-40e. Sets of information nb1-nb4 of the data quantity are inputted to coefficient arithmetic circuits 44a-44d deciding the quantity step of a succeeding stage. Then a time difference of the outputs of each of the variable length coding circuits 40a-40e is compensated by data buffers 45a-45j and the result is outputted selectively by a data selection switch 47.</p>
