In-vivo testing of cosmetics to combat ageing of the skin - using radical-producing microorganisms grown on culture medium

Test system for determining the effectiveness of cosmetic agents against ageing related changes in the skin comprises a radical-producing microorganism culture growing on a nutrient medium. The microorganism used pref. belongs to the class Ascomycetes, the sub-class Pyrenomycetes, the family Sordariaceae and esp. the species Podospora anserina or Neurospora crassa. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system allows in vivo testing of cosmetic agents to assess their effect on the ageing of the skin by determn. of their effect on the propagation of radical-producing microorganisms on a nutrient medium, thus avoiding the use of test animals.
