PURPOSE:To provide an image reducing and expanding method and a device to apply the method which can improved the reproducibility (picture quality) of an original image. CONSTITUTION:When an original image quantization-sampled concerning the concentration and position is converted to a (k)-fold image, a first processing means 130 processes each line at an m1 dot unit, and generates [kXm1] dots or ([kXm1]+1) dots from an m1 dot in accordance with the ratio set beforehand. On the other hand, a second processing means 140 processes the processed line processed by the first processing means 130 at an m2 line unit in a line direction, and generates [kXm2] lines or ([kXm2]+1) lines from an m2 line in accordance with the ratio set beforehand. |
