PRODUCTION OF GRAPHITE FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce the subject pitch-based graphite fiber excellent in tensile strength and tensile modulus with industrial advantage. CONSTITUTION:In production of a carbon fiber by using, as the raw material, a mesophase pitch obtained by polymerization of a condensed polycyclic hydrocarbon or a material containing it in the presence of hydrogen fluoride and boron trifluoride, melt spinning it and then carrying out infusibilization and carbonization, the melt spinning is carried out in a draft ratio (Ve/Vo) within a specified range (shadowed portion in fig. 1) and the graphitization is carried out at >=1800 deg.C.
