PURPOSE: To provide the compressing method for digital image data which reduces a transfer time and/or storage capacity. CONSTITUTION: An object image including digital image data is read in (step 1). The object image is modeled (step 2). The model for the object image is matched against an image obtained by modeling a standard reference image having relatively small correlation in three dimensions (step 3). Here, space adjustments of the image are made so as to correct deviations in position, scale, and direction. Namely, the corrections are so made that the modeled object image and reference image have correlation in spatial and spectrum dimensions. Differences between the modeled reference image and object image are calculated to form a difference image (step 4), which is compressed (step 5). |
