PURPOSE:To obtain a bulky oxide superconductor of REBa2Cu3Oy (RE is Y, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er or Yb) having high superconducting characteristics Jc by accelerating the growth of crystals having REBa2Cu3Oy phase and reducing unnecessary grain boundaries. CONSTITUTION:A powdery mixture prepd. by adding <=1wt.% K to powdery starting materials forming an oxide superconductor of REBa2Cu3Oy (RE is Y, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er or Yb) is molded and this molded body is heated to the decomposition or melting temp. of the oxide superconductor or above. The heated molded body is slowly cooled and heat-treated. |
