PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of a means for axially immobilizing a first or tripodlike element connected to a first shaft in relation to a second or barrel- or socket-like element connected to a second shaft, and facilitate the assembly of a transmission. CONSTITUTION: A first element 16 connected to a first shaft 12 carries transmission-joint articulation elements 22 positioned within a second element 18 connected to a second shaft 14. An axial stop member 32 is connected to the first element 16 for interaction with a complementary stop surface 52 formed in a sealing boot 54, to construct a means for immobilizing the first element 16 axially in relation to the second element 18 in at least one direction of relative axial displacement. The sealing boot 54 has a first end 58 that is fastened to the second element 18, and a second end 62 that is fastened to the first shaft 12.
