Digital local geographical data which are specific to a place, for example the local city map, are emitted by a local emitter (16) and received, decoded, buffer stored and presented on a display by appropriate receivers of a motor vehicle (10). The geographical data specific to the place are completed or modified by the local emitter (16), that adds information specific to the city, such as occupancy of multi-storey car parks. The receiving and displaying means of the motor vehicle (10) allow the received local geographical data to be displayed in their totality or as partial resolutions.
