PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately measure the blow-off rate from a safety valve without errors by a method wherein the steam discharged from the safety valve is released directly into water, and the discharge amount is measured according to the water level fluctuation. CONSTITUTION:First, steam is supplied into a steam reservoir 1 from a steam supply pipe 3, and the pressure in the steam reservoir 1 is boosted. When said pressure reaches the preset blow-off pressure of a safety valve 4, the sample safety valve 4 accurately operates to discharge the steam in the steam reservoir 1. The discharged steam is led through a discharge pipe 5 to an underwater silencer 9 and discharged into water while being reduced in pressure. On doing this, a shock wave is generated by the temperature and pressure differences between the steam and water, and noises and a rise in pressure in the apparatus are derived therefrom. In order to prevent this, the steam discharged by the silencer 9 is released while being reduced in pressure so that the pressure difference between the steam and water is made small, and condensed instantaneously. On the other hand, the temperature of the water is controlled by temperature controllers 10 and 12. |
