CONVERSION OF THE JET STREAM

The shape of a jet motion from the nozzle has a powerful effect on decay rate which influences the thrust of the airplane. As the jet air-stream from the nozzle proceeds downstream, turbulent mixing with the ambient air causes a spreading of the jet and a reduction in peak dynamic pressure. Thus, the dynamic pressure decays much more rapidly as the mixing surface area is increased. It is to convert the jet air-stream from the nozzle into a strong thrust of turbulence and to increase the dynamic pressure, that a right circular hollow conical jet motion which is squirted out of the nozzle and thrusting into the cylinder are invented.
