PURPOSE:To obtain high tenacity acrylic fibers substantially uniformly cross- linked in a three-dimensional way, for reinforcing cement, having excellent dimensional stability and wet heat-resistant stability by specifying shrinkage percentage in heat treatment at 180 deg.C wet heat under no load for three minutes. CONSTITUTION:Shrinkage percentage of high tenacity acrylic fibers in heat treatment at 180 deg.C wet heat under no load for three minutes is made <=5% to give high tenacity acrylic fibers useful as fibers for reinforcing cement, not adhering in curing cement in an autoclave at 180 deg.C wet heat. An acrylic polymer is spun, drawn, washed with water, cross-linked, cut and then heat-treated to give high tenacity acrylic fibers having excellent wet heat-resistant dimensional stability. The heat treatment, for example, is carried out by a hot-air dryer at >=130 deg.C for >=5 minutes. |
