The metering device is for a sowing machine for metering granular material, particularly seed grain, comprising an elongate, funnel-shaped granulate compartment (4), bottom flaps (5) closing the granulate compartment (4) at the bottom, and which at one end are pivotally mounted on a common shaft (6) longitudinally positioned in relation to the granulate chamber and at the other end (13) form a seed slot together with a respective metering wheel (7), said metering wheels (7) being mounted on a common shaft (9) longitudinally positioned in relation to the granulate compartment (8) and each adapted to meter granular material to an outlet (11) from the metering device. The metering wheels are cellular wheels (7), and are adapted to be removed from the housing together with their shaft as a unit.
