<p>PURPOSE:To recover a fuel from a waste plastic without causing environmental pollution, by a method wherein the waste plastic is mixed with a granulating material contg. an alkaline Ca compd., the volume of the mixt. is reduced to solidify the mixt., the resulting solid material is thermally decomposed, and the evolving HCl is neutralized with the Ca compd. CONSTITUTION:A waste plastic 1 and a granulating material composed of lime alone or lime and sand are introduced into a volume-reducing and solidifying apparatus 3, where both are mixed together under heating to produce solids in the form of a dumpling. Then the discharged solids are screened by a screening means 4 to remove metals 5 which are not granulated. The remaining materials are supplied to a pyrolysis furnace 6 where the materials are thermally decomposed at 400-1,000 deg.C. Hydrogen chloride evolved in the pyrolysis is neutralized with the lime preset in the granulating material 2 to form CaCl2 which is then removed as a residue 9. Hydrocarbons produced by the thermal decomposition are fed to a purifier 7 where cooling, washing and separation are carried out to obtain the desired fuel. In this way, the fuel can be produced from the waste plastic without causing environmental pollution and the corrosion of the apparatus.</p> |
