The invention relates to a bacteriological analytical procedure for differentiating the pathogenic species monocytogenes in a sample which may contain bacteria of the genus Listeria, to a medium for carrying it out and to a device for identifying Listeria monocytogenes. The procedure consists in bringing the sample to be analysed into contact with an identification medium comprising a chromogenic or fluorogenic substrate capable of being hydrolysed by glycine aminopeptidase.
