PURPOSE:To shorten the time for driving and to make display with a high gradation characteristic by synthesizing one frame from plural sub-frames on a time base, which sub-frames form a memory medium by a 1st step and displaying time by a 2nd step. CONSTITUTION:The one frame displayed on a screen are divided in time to the plural sub-frames SF and are displayed by an address cycle CYa and a display cycle CYi. Wall charges are simultaneously formed to the picture elements over the entire part of the screen and are then selectively erased to write the display data in the address cycle CYa. The time length of the display cycle CYi of the sub-frames SF is so set as to increase gradually according to the weights applied to the sub-frames SF and the gradation display of the one frame is executed by synthesizing the sub-frames SF. The driving time necessary for the gradation display is shortened in this way and the display with the high gradation characteristic is executed. |
