PURPOSE:To always obtain an image output with high quality by making a process cartridge including a developing means attachable and detachable and providing a means which changes the density of a picture element according to the kind of the loaded process cartridge. CONSTITUTION:The process cartridge 14 is provided in freely attachably and detachably with respect to a main body. A controller 30 receives a signal from a reception circuit for a picture element density specifying signal 40 which receives a picture element density specifying signal from the cartridge 14 and sends a signal which switches the specified density of a scanning line, for example, 600dpi and 300dpi to a scanner motor driver 33. The driver 33 controls a scanner motor 34 to be the speed of revolution corresponding to the density of the scanning line and also outputs the signal of the specified density of the picture element to a host computer 39 on a host side. A semiconductor laser 35 is driven by a laser driver 30a included in the controller 30 according to an image signal. Thus, the image output with the high quality corresponding to printing performance is always obtained. |
