Ultrasonic particle size measurement for gall stone lithotripsy - uses measured velocity of particles in organ body fluid

The particle size measurement uses evaluation of ultrasonic echo pulses, to determine the sinking rate of the stone particles in the organ body fluid and hence the particle size. Pref. the number of particles of each dia. are counted, with the count values fed to a display. The sinking rates of the particles are measured using 2 successive ultrasonic pulses, with the obtained measured values fed to a processor calculating the particle velocity and particle size, with a histogram of the particle sizes provided.
