<p>PURPOSE:To attain easily the opening/closing mechanism of a protecting even when a cartridge is inserted in a length-wise direction with the protecting cover at a depth by providing movably a magnetic head in the width direction of a magnetic tape and arranging the magnetic head deaper than the motor for driving a tape to a cartridge inserting port. CONSTITUTION:In the driving device of a magnetic tape suitable to a tape cartridge for back-up of a magnetic disk device, a magnetic head 100 is movably provided in the width direction of a magnetic tape 13, and the magnetic head 100 is arranged deeper than a motor 160 for driving a tape to a cartridge inserting port. For this reason, even when a cartridge 10 is inserted in a lengthwise direction with a protecting cover 11 in the depth direction, the opening/ closing mechanism of the protecting cover 11 can be simplified. Since the magnetic head 100 is moved in the width direction of the magnetic tape 13, the moving space of the magnetic head 100 can be minimized and the moving mechanism of the magnetic head can be simplified.</p> |
